Estrogen Gels Available in India
Oestrogel (the most widely available option)
Oestrogel is manufactured by Besins Healthcare and is the most consistently stocked estradiol gel at Indian pharmacies. It contains estradiol at 0.06% w/w concentration and comes in an 80g tube with a metered pump dispenser.
Current price (verified August 2026): The MRP for an 80g tube is approximately Rs 726. Online pharmacy platforms including Apollo, PharmEasy, and Medkart typically list it at Rs 508 to Rs 617 with their standard discounts. Local pharmacy prices vary. One tube provides roughly four weeks of use at the standard starting dose of two pumps per day.
Availability varies across India. In major cities, Oestrogel is usually findable at specialty gynecology pharmacies or larger chains. In smaller cities and towns, it may require an advance order or may only be intermittently in stock. Divigel
Divigel is an estradiol gel at 1% concentration. It comes in single-use sachets rather than a pump bottle. It is available in India through Win Medicare but is less uniformly stocked than Oestrogel at general pharmacies.

Dosing: Pumps and Sachets Explained
Oestrogel: understanding the pump
Each pump of Oestrogel delivers 1.25g of gel, containing 0.75mg of estradiol.
The standard starting dose is one to two pumps once daily. Most prescribing guidelines begin at two pumps per day, which delivers 1.5mg of estradiol and is approximately equivalent to a 50 mcg/day estradiol patch. Divigel: understanding the sachets
Each Divigel sachet contains a fixed amount of gel at 1% estradiol concentration. A 0.5mg sachet contains 0.5g of gel with 0.5mg estradiol. A 1mg sachet contains 1g of gel with 1mg estradiol.
Daily doses typically range from 0.5mg to 1.5mg. Your doctor may start you on one 0.5mg sachet per day and review at four to six weeks. Unlike Oestrogel, where you can adjust by single pumps, Divigel’s sachet format means dose changes happen in steps: 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.5mg (one 0.5mg plus one 1mg sachet), and so on.
How to Apply Estrogen Gel: Step by Step
The technique is broadly similar for both products, with one difference in application site.
For Oestrogel:
- Apply at the same time each day. Most women find a morning routine after bathing easiest to maintain consistently.
- The application site is the inner arm from wrist to elbow, the upper arm, or the inner thigh. Rotate between sites daily.
- Dispense the gel onto your inner arm (do not pump directly onto your palm). Spread it in one long, thin stroke and allow it to absorb. Do not rub it in vigorously.
- Allow the gel to dry for two to three minutes before dressing. A tight sleeve applied immediately after may wipe off gel before it absorbs.
- Do not wash the application site for at least one hour after applying.
- Wash your hands after applying. Oestrogen transfers through skin contact, so avoid touching partners or children at the application site until the gel is fully dry.
- Do not apply to your breasts, face, armpits, or genitals.
For Divigel:
The technique is similar. The main difference is that Divigel is typically applied to the lower abdomen or upper thigh rather than the arm. Follow the specific instructions your doctor or pharmacist provides with your sachets.
What gel and patches share: both deliver estradiol transdermally. How Long Does One Tube Last?
At the standard starting dose of two pumps per day, one 80g tube of Oestrogel lasts approximately four weeks.
At three pumps per day: roughly 21 days (about 3 weeks). At four pumps per day: roughly 16 days.
If your dose increases, plan to order tubes more frequently. At an online selling price of Rs 508 to Rs 617, the gel costs roughly Rs 500 to Rs 620 per month at the two-pump starting dose, or Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,250 per month at four pumps.

The Progestogen Rule: Do Not Skip This
If your uterus is intact, you need a progestogen alongside any form of oestrogen HRT, whether that is a tablet, patch, or gel. Using oestrogen alone when the uterus is present significantly increases the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and, over time, endometrial cancer.
The gel delivers oestrogen only. It does not contain progestogen.
Your doctor will usually prescribe one of the following alongside the gel:
- Utrogestan (micronised progesterone, 100mg or 200mg capsules, taken orally or vaginally)
- Susten (another micronised progesterone brand available in India)
